Theme
This is an international exhibit that will tour several countries and by shown in multiple galleries over a two-year period. The title, Strokes for Hope, refers to painting with compassion and a forward vision. It suggests that works submitted will reflect, on some level, that the artist is thinking about issues such as world peace, hunger and poverty that require positive social change. It is hoped that works will create some viewer awareness or stimulate public thought/action about these types of issues. Work may be abstract or realistic. There is no restriction on style. Creative approaches are encouraged!
Eligibility
Open to all artists world-wide. Artists are invited to submit up to three pieces for consideration. Works selected by jurors from submitted entries will be chosen on the basis of creative excellence and quality of execution. All works must be original and completed within the last four years.
General Rules
Artists may submit up to three (3) entries, with a non-refundable fee of €20 (Euros) for the first entry and €10 each for the second and third submissions. These entries must have been created within the last 4 years. All work must proportional to 20x30 inches (50.8x76.2 centimeters). If a work is not proportional, it is acceptable to crop the work to fit those proportions.
Submission files must be in jpg format, at 72 dpi. The file should be approximately 600 x 900 pixels and no larger than 667 x 1000 pixels. Name files in this manner: “title of work.jpg” . All information on the original entry as to title, size and price must remain the same on the accepted entry. Entries must be original in concept, composition and execution. Artwork must not be copied, in part or wholly from any published or copyrighted work.
Deadline for submissions is January 20, 2010.
All submissions will be done online at: http://www.redbluffartgallery.com/machform/view.php?id=7
Notice of acceptance will be sent by February 10, 2010.
Accepted Works
All works accepted by the jury will need to be submitted for the exhibition Tour in one of two ways:
(1) A digital file (jpg) that is 300 dpi at 3000x4500 pixels.
(2) A 20x30 inch giclee print, mounted on 1/4" foam core backing. (Must be shipped to: Red Bluff Art Gallery, 601 Walnut, Red Bluff, CA 96080 USA)
If work is submitted as a digital file, it will be made into a high quality giclee print for the artist. The artist will be responsible for paying a fee of €50 to have the file made into a giclee print. The artist will own the print and the proceeds of any eventual sale, less gallery commission, will go to the artist. If the print is not sold, it can be returned to the artist (artist to pay return shipping costs).
Selection Process
Images will be selected by a jury of peers on the website www.OneWorldOneArt.com . A total of 50 works of art will be selected.
Publicity
All works submitted will be used for publicity purposes, without any compensation to the artist. Selected works will also be published in an Exhibition Catalog book commemorating the Tour. Proceeds from book sales will help pay for the shipment of art between exhibitions and/or be donated to Doctors Without Borders.
